XX Edition of the HARVEST FESTIVAL in Piedimonte Etneo (CT) 22nd / 24th September 2017
The Harvest Festival takes place at the end of the Piedimontese Summer events. Three days of celebrations characterized by the tasting of food and wine products, cultural encounters, exhibitions of typical artisan products and costumed shows related to the traditional harvesting phases from the harvesters’ procession to the grape-processing with traditional systems.
Piedimonte Etneo, a municipality in the province of Catania, extends on the north-eastern slope of Etna for about 2646 hectares, of which 794 are in the territory of the Etna Park, between the 130 and 2874 m altitude. At the dawn of the seventeenth century, was baptized with the name of “Belvedere” thanks to the enchanting views that can be seen from the colina where it stands. The economy is mainly based on crafts and agriculture. Traditional agricultural production is essentially based on citrus and viticulture (for good reason, in fact, Piedimonte is included in the circuit of the wine cities.
